Three is the magic number for Grace Kang. Pink Olive, Olive Box and Retail Recipes!

You know that I like a smart cookie and this woman certainly is one! Grace Kang is the owner of darling boutiques in NY called Pink Olive, one in Brooklyn and in the East Village. Her successful stores are chock full of unusual paper products and yummy gifts. (Business 1)

She loves supporting indie designers goods in her shop. She loves new designers so much that she launched Business 2 called Retail Recipes to guide designers  through the process of getting their goods into retail stores. She has an superb eye (and passion) for product, design and pricing. You aslo know that I love it when someone is in the position to help! You can check out Retail Recipes here.

Business 3 is a super innovative way to give a gift that keeps on giving (literally)! Olive Box is a recent incarnation that combines some of her favorite picks from the store to arrive on your (or your loved ones) doorstep every month. This is such a clever idea. She has even partnered with Bing for free shipping of the 6 or 12 month subscription.  I love the idea of giving your mom, your sister or your BFF a subscription of Olive Box that arrives once a month! Of course, it is an awesome treat for yourself. You work hard, wouldn’t a surprise package that arrives once a month be lovely?

Grace let me know that even though today is Nov. 1, that if you want to sign up for the Nov. box you can still do so until midnight tonight.

Let’s give Grace a warm welcome to Smart Creative Women. She has had a trying week with hurricane Sandy, for sure. They are still working on getting power back to the East Village store but the Park Slope Pink Olive is open! Naturally you can still shop online, she is giving free shipping to domestic orders through Nov. 2!

Oh my goodness, this is such a great interview! I listen to every interview but Grace in particular really stood out to me, I love her energy. And she really resonated with me because last week I launched the first stationery gift subscription service in the UK! I’m a designer with my own range of eco-friendly stationery so it’s these products that make up the monthly packages. I would love to visit Pink Olive one day, a trip to NYC is on my list of places to go when my business is enough of a success for me to be able to afford to!
Thanks for the interviews, Monica, they’re so inspiring and helpful,
    Gabrielle x

What a wonderful interview, I’m hopping over to Grace’s site to check out her e-book product. As I grow my two shops on ETSY, I’m focusing on one first-I need to know about lines and approaching indie gift shops. It’s my goal to have my products in turn sell well in small indie, boutiques, bookstores etc. or as Grace says-“A win-win”. Thanks for the interview Monica!

I so enjoyed this conversation Monica and Grace! It does seem that 3 is a number that works for you Grace. I got tired just feeling all of your energy and hope that some will come my way :). My thoughts are also with your area at this time referring to the weather coming your way.
    Laura.
