Jeweler Karyn Shonk talks about being an apprentice, being ready and in the right spot at the right time!

Karyn Shonk is a jeweler with an industrial eye.  She mixes grit and glamour in a way that I just LOVE! In this interview she talks about her very interesting past and about her search for the right creative path. She talks about how she “studied” the art of fine jewelry by finding the perfect mentor as well as when she decided to go out on her own. Some of her designs can now be purchased through her new etsy shop. C’set tres manifique! When you watch you will see the custom pieces that she made especially for me!

Here is what she custom created for me with my grandmother old shoe clip and brooch!

OK, I’m guilty of popping in all too often, listening to a great exchange and not letting anyone know that I stopped by and enjoyed the segment.

Karyn’s jewelry is beautiful and oh, so original Nothing cookie-cutter about it. The pieces are just lovely!! I love the idea of incorporating sentimental items into the jewelry which make it that much more special.

Monica, you’re interviews are informative and fun and a delight to listen to. What a great way to learn about new artists and their creative efforts. Very inspiring and always a treat.
