Is there a difference between waiting and patience?

I just had to pop in and say HELLO today! I am in the process of moving forward on a BIG project after having to be really patient while waiting for the puzzle pieces to come together. So today I want to talk about the “in between time!” Oh man, sometimes trying to find answers to questions is HARD! You ask, “What do I do next? How do I show up as my best self? Can I do this? SHOULD I do this?” I get it! Boy, do I get it! Today I want to offer some thoughts (and encouragement) on what I think is the difference between waiting which can be a static and having patience, which I believe, is active. Patience involves listening and TRUSTING, it might involve seasons of education and even some silent seeking. You don’t give up when you are being patience, you have faith that your answers will come!

Tune in and see what I mean! Have you had seasons in your life that involved patience? Let me know in the comments!

  1. the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, without getting angry or upset.

Lots of great insights, Monica! Yes, the waiting vs. patience thing is something I’ve also been thinking about lately. I just read a quote this weekend- Have faith like it’s all depending on God, but work like it’s all depending on you.

      • I love that Jacquelynne! That is a great quote!!

Couldn’t agree with your insight more! I love how you articulated the difference between inactive waiting and active patience. Gives me something to think about today.

Thanks Monica It really is so much about trust, isn’t it. Trusting your instincts, trusting your path and the power you have to make your dreams come true. I just came out of a long waiting period and without some patience, I would have gone crazy. thanks MJ

      • It is about trust! I feel like I should get that word tattooed on my arm, haha!

Monica…You were sent to my FB feed tonight like a package by the UPS man. I’m there, sister! Thanks for being a willing and open vessel…this reminder was like a little dew drop from above.

Love this Monica. I was doing a series of drawings and one of the women from my art group pointed out that my drawings had a strong resemblance to someone else- argh. She was so right. So I went back to the drawing board and I’ve stopped looking at other artists’s work this summer while I figure out my own style. I never dreamed it would take this long, but I think having patience will be worth it in the end.

      • Oh man, I know! Well, it is an age old problem-just look at Rodin and that chic he dated Camille, haha! Good for you for listening and challenging yourself!
