How does Stash Books’s Roxanne Cerda acquire authors?

I love full circle moments. I feel like meeting Roxanne Cerda was one of those moments. I was at a conference, waiting in line and was introduced to Roxanne by Betz White who I met on the van from the airport. (See how this works?) Now I am so happy to introduce you to Roxanne.  She is an acquisitions editor for C+T Publishing and Stash Books. She is just so lovely. Editors are not scary at all, turns out! She wants to hear your ideas and genuinely appreciates your talents. In this interview she tell us what she is looking for in an author. We also discuss the role that social media plays in becoming an author.  She even talks about how she likes to be approached by potential authors. Girls, pay attention! Let’s get you published! Stash Books are so polished, so darling and so nice. Nice because they sent the book,  Little Stitches by Annela Hoey, for me to giveaway to a lucky viewer! Adorable! Leave a comment below and I will pick a winner by midnight Sept 5.

Just how yummy do these titles look? Check them all out here. Have a friend who would like this interview or a chance to win the book? Go tell her now!

The winner of Little Stitches is Jennet from Feathered Nest Studios! I will be contacting you for your address thank you so much for entering!

This was such an enlightening interview, Monica! I love Stash Books and have several of their quilting books in my sewing room. They are always so well designed with very clear, eye catching photos and they are publishing authors who I’ve already been interested in for a while through blogs and social media.

I followed Aneela Hoey through her blog and flicker because her embroidery designs caught my eye. When she was picked up by Moda to print her designs on fabric, I was thrilled! I’m so curious about her new book as someone new to embroidery (and cross stitcher from way back). I’m sure it will be as beautifully done as all the other Stash Books I love!

OOOoohhhh! Such insight into the publishing industry! I have a jewelry book that I’ve been working on (well… off and on for the past year) but haven’t really approached anyone about it because I wasn’t sure how. Thank you so much for this lovely interview!

    Hi Monica,

I just wanted to let you know I immediately contacted Roxane about publishing my first kids sewing book. She got back to me within the day and even the next day. She is going to be presenting my ideas to some “decision makers” on Thursday. I don’t know where this will lead with Stash, but it could be the start of a new direction I would have never thought possible without watching your interview.

Thanks so much, I’m awaiting your next video to get my Monica fix. Have you thought about adding a Saturday video, so we don’t have to go without you for 4 days.

    Creatively,
    Katrina Marie
